Cup of Brooklynne

I think my neighbors think I am weird. And they are probably right. But how often do you see something this cute in your neighbor's front yard??? Didn't think so. Drive on by at random times, you never know what I'll be doing next. lol I often wonder if the neighbors I don't know well wonder what is going on over here. New people in and out all the time with stacks of clothing. hehe It must be a funny site. One neighbor said he often wonders how long some are planning to stay. :o) So, tomorrow I am a day older. bah, But I'm going shopping and getting loads of yummy food....and it won't count against my "lose all this baby weight so you can look like a normal but perfect girl and wear really cute clothes" plan cause your body disposes of all the fat on your birthday. Yeah. And Friday's. Fat Free Fridays. You learn something new everyday on my blog, don't ya??? Have a great one!!!

Weddings!!!

I wanted to share a couple of quick images from a wedding we did. We did this wedding about a week before I came off leave, it was soooo much fun! We had a lot working against us, but the wedding turned out so beautifully! I am thankful to this wonderful couple for letting us share in their special day! I just wanted to share a few:

And we are very excited to announce that we will be adding wedding packages to our variety of services. I have always steered clear of them, and to be honest I will be choosy with weddings. I want to make sure I am a good match for each couple. This match was perfect and enjoyable, so it was that little push we needed to open the door to another project. As if we need more projects. ha We will start doing weddings in '08 so tell your friends....the ones who are getting married of course.

Ok, so on another note, this is going to be my adult ADD information coming out of my ears update. A couple of things:

1. We are really trying to expand our outdoor/on-location portfolio. While we have done tons, we have not asked permission to use them. So, we are looking for a few models! We want to take some kiddos downtown, to parks, old buildings, etc. It will be loads of fun and be amazing images! I am getting ready to do this with my own little crew so I will have samples soon. If you would like to sign your child up to be a model, please email me and I will give you the details.

2. We are also looking for a couple of Senior Reps in the area. High School Seniors will receive a discount and get to be in our portfolio! Contact me for details.

3. You will now also have the option to have a preview of your session on the blog! After your session, the wait can be INTENSE. So, you will now have the lovely option of having a sneak peek image to get you through the agonizing wait. I know. It's golden. And I am a smart cookie.

4. My birthday is on Thursday. And I am getting older by the minute people. And I think I need something shiny for my birthday. And I don't mean foil.

5. I need chocolate, so I have to go now. Don't tell anyone though. I feel like if I have chocolate while no one is around it doesn't count as breaking my diet. Works well I think.

Lots of love people!

Looks like we have a plan!

Thanks to everyone who has taken the poll! It will remain open until September 1st, so feel free to add your thoughts!
So, it looks like we will have a site that allows you to view your session as well as place your order and pay right then and there. I am working on getting it in place and hope to have it up and running by September 1. There will also be the option for a viewing session at the studio. When you come for your session, you will be asked what your preference is and we will either set up a viewing session or an online viewing.
In addition to this exciting change, there will be a couple of minor changes to ordering. Once your proofs are online, you will now have 5 days to view and choose your portraits. Things are much busier around here, and with the holiday season sneaking up on us I need to make sure everything is smooth. This policy will change as of September 1st as well. If you have already scheduled a session, you will be honored the current viewing time. We also have some awesome new business cards on their way, and are working on new brochures and other products! It is all very exciting. We have grown by leaps and bounds and we want to make sure the experience is as exciting and memorable as the portraits! Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!!!

Silly me...

I forgot to post the special for September...

Complimentary 8x10 with $100 purchase and paid session! Plus you add on the fact that you get to hang out with me for about an hour and that my friends, is priceless!

Tuesday, August 07, 2007

Almost forgot...

I have had many requests for availability in September already. I will be back to 3 sessions per weekend. And it is filling up quick, so here is what's left for September's schedule:

September 1 - BOOKED!
September 8 - 2 slots left
September 15 - BOOKED!
September 22 - 2 slots left
September 30 - 1 slot left

Take the Poll!

Ok, so here's the skinny. I have been looking for a better way of proofing, or a better proofing site for some time. Well, my current proofing site is shutting down and forcing me to get in gear and make a decision. So, I've posted a poll (to the left). I don't want to make a decision that is good for me, but totally inconvenient for the client. So, please take the poll! I'll cry if you don't. I am going to explain the choices....

Viewing Appointment: You would come back to my home to view your portraits, which would be presented in a slideshow. We would then sit down together and go through them each to see what you would like to order and can even help you design a set up for a display wall in your home. You would have to be prepared to place your order at the time of your Viewing Appointment, but family and friends would still have an opportunity to order. After our appointment the session would go live online for 5 days, allowing any additional orders to be placed. I would love to be able to do this, and meet with each of my clients. But I know this may not be the best option for those who are an hour or more away.

Online Viewing and Ordering: Basically exactly what we have been doing now, but you would have the ability to order the prints right there on the site rather than having to email me.

Online Slideshow: This would be a slideshow for you to view, along with being able to see each portrait. You would still have to email me your order.

So, those are the choices. I am also very open to any other ideas, if you have them. But I really want to make sure I am keeping everything as convenient or better than it is now. Thanks friends!!!

I'm BAAAAACK!

Well, ladies and gents this weekend I am back in action and Bella Amadis Photography is reopening after my almost 3 month leave. I am so excited. I have a bunch of new clients coming out this month that I am so excited to meet and work with. And of course, my awesome regulars who I am just so thrilled to see. :o) I am going to sit down and work on my Fall schedule and get that out soon. I have had a ton of inquiries on when I will start booking for Christmas sessions, and since there are already people asking it will likely be soon that I start scheduling them. The actual sessions will likely start next month. Which is crazy to already be thinking of Christmas, but last year we started mid September and were booked in no time for the rest of the year and we unfortunately had to turn people away. So, this year I am on top of the game! Ok, I gotta run before the little peeps cause some trouble. Here are some pictures from yesterday of my little sweet munchkins....

WAIT...

I forgot I hadn't posted these. Granted they're from like 4 weeks ago. But still, it's super cute. And I'll get working on a new one!

I know, I know

Ok, so I know I need to post more pictures of Miss Priss. So, you can stop tapping your tired little fingers Megan. LOL To be honest....I haven't taken any recently. *GASP* I know, shocking. I've been SO busy for a whole lot of doing nothing. Amazing how time flies when you have 3 kids around. Plus I did a wedding last Monday, so will be buried under editing for a while. Someone's gonna have to come and feed and bathe my kids. Oh, hehe kidding. :) The wedding went really well, despite the weather not cooperating. It was SUCH a beautiful wedding, and I was so thankful to be there to capture it for such a wonderful couple.
I will work on getting a couple of the Little Princess posted, she is due for her 2 month portraits! I can't believe she's already 2 months. And this coming weekend, I am officially back to work! I am so excited!!! It's been a fun time off, but I am just excited to get the creative juices flowing again. I have some fun things planned for the fall, so stay tuned! In the meantime, if you want a session in August - you better jump on it! Just 1 left!!!

Now Booking!!!

It's amazing how time flies with a newborn. I'm even more amazed that time actually is flying even though we have been stuck in the house most of the summer. Can I just say I am TOTALLY over this weather. My husband told me last night I am too pale. Um hellooooo, when is a girl supposed to catch a ray in this weather??? Anyways, I have already started booking for August. I have contacted all of my waiting list clients and they have all chosen their sessions so I can now release the few sessions left. FYI, there are not many left and they will fill quickly since I have not been taking sessions since April. It's going to be busy around here pretty much through the end of the year now. August is playing catch up on summer sessions and mid September is the beginning of the holiday rush for photographers! So here's the skinny for August:

August Special: 2 complimentary 5x7's with $100 purchase and paid session!

August 4th: 12pm

August 11th: 10am, 12pm

August 18th: 12pm

August 25th: Booked

I can't believe how quickly what I had filled up, and I am so excited to come back. I seriously have the best job in the world! Oh, and on a side note...I realized this week that my phone ate a few messages. I know there are a couple of people that are waiting for me to call them back to schedule a session. I am so sorry I haven't! I didn't forget about you I promise, I just don't have your info to call you back anymore!!! ACK! So, if you are still waiting on my call please either call me or email me. I feel like such a dork, I am not always a dork - only when I have a newborn. Makes my brain slightly mushy. Have a safe and wonderful 4th everyone!!!

4 weeks!

Wow, how time flies. I forget how quickly they grow up, but have been quickly reminded by Brooklynne. She hit 4 weeks yesterday. It's crazy I tell you! Anyways, things are going wonderful. I have just been enjoying her and the boys. :) Here are a few pictures from this weekend.

Gotta love the slightly cross eyed look. Poor little booger. We're gonna have to work on that. ;) Oh AND can someone tell me where the blue/gray eyes came from??? Everyone here started and ended with brown. Gosh, I love this kid!

Finally more of Miss Brooklynne Grace!

Things have been busy of course, but it is such a wonderful busy. :) Brooklynne is 8 days old now, and doing FANTASTIC! The boys adore her, daddy is wrapped around her sweet little finger. And life just couldn't be better. We are so blessed. And yes, for those who have asked....this is it for us!!! ;) Anyways, thank you so so much for all of the emails of well wishes! They are so appreciated. I have read every single one of them, now I just need to find an extra minute to respond. But I haven't forgotten! So, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Now, enough blabber...I know why you're really here. I have gotten a ton of emails asking for more pictures. So here she is! My sweet baby girl. :)

Guess who came to visit?!

She's here!!! I am going to be in so much trouble since I don't have pictures to post yet....well, I do have pictures (of course) just not my card reader to upload them to the computer. :) She came Monday at 1:46AM, and is amazing and beautiful and perfect. 7lbs 2oz, 20.5 inches and every bit of beautiful a girl should be. I will be back later to post pictures of her and at some point to share the chaos of my delivery. It was interesting. :) Hope you are all doing well!

Induction date

We had our 36 week (actually 36weeks 5 days but who's counting???) appointment and sono today. :) Everything went very well. We knew we would be talking about induction, and it would be based on the baby's size. She measured perfectly, estimated to be about 6lbs. 4oz.! Which is a great size, and luckily smaller than Mason was at that stage. We didn't want to have a larger baby than Mason so that we could make sure I could deliver her on my own. Mason was 8lbs 4oz 2 weeks early!!! So, she is a great size which is excellent news. She was so precious on the sono you could see her pouting her little lips, and sticking out her tongue. It was beautiful. So, since she isn't too big we will be induced at 39 weeks if we make it. My scheduled induction is June 4th! That's a maximum of 18 more days left!!! We are so excited. A week ago if you asked us, we would have been hoping for a sooner induction. But this is it for us, and we want to enjoy every last minute. And we have come this far, 18 more days is nothing! But there is still the possibility, especially since I have had so many problems, that she could still come sooner. I was 1-2 cm dilated, and he said really ready for delivery. I'll keep you all posted!!!

Nothing fun to report today, but I thought this was funny...
http://info.org.il/irrelevant/may02-smilepop-soapbox4.swf

I go to the dr tomorrow and we will have a sono and set an induction date if she doesn't come on her own sooner. SO, tomorrow I will have news. :) Hope you are all having a great day!

What a weekend!!!

First, I hope you all had a fantastic Mother's Day! Being a mom is truly my biggest and best accomplishment, so it was good to be with my family and enjoy my boys this weekend. But it was quite a chaotic weekend. So, since it was so eventful I thought I would fill everyone in. And before you wonder, no baby yet....but she did cause some drama. :) So, now that I am off "house arrest" I am feeling a little more free, but then there is the on going problem of non-stop contractions which really restrict what I do with my new found free time. But I was bound and determined to get out and about for the first time in over 3 weeks. My sister in law came in town, so we went and did a little shopping. I of course was tired in no time, but it was nice to get out and about. So after a few hours of being out of the house, we decided it was time to head home so she could get herself back home and so I could rest. We came home, and of course the contractions started. After over an hour of contractions every 2-3 minutes apart I decided maybe I should call the dr office since I have quick babies just to see what they wanted to do. They had me take one of my pain meds I was prescribed to see if that would relax me enough to slow things down. After another hour we decided it was time to go in. I spent several hours in the hospital on Saturday night being monitored. They gave me plenty of fluids just in case and also a sedative to try to slow my body down. They can't give me the meds that will stop labor but since she would still be 4 weeks early they were going to aggressively try to at least stop me from dilating. And they did. :) After several hours I hadn't changed, but unfortunately the contractions just wouldn't let up. So, I was sent home on the sedative and a couple ambien to knock me out. And they did, after I made my poor husband cook me pancakes at 1am and had some interesting hallucinations. I don't do well with medication. It just does funky things to my body. Yesterday I spent majority of my day in bed, in pain and completely pooped from the nights events. My darling husband brought me breakfast in bed and roses and had wonderful gifts for me from the boys. And a card from each of the children, including Brooklynne. :) Have I mentioned I am the luckiest girl alive??? He makes it all ok, and takes such amazing care of us during all of this mess. But I am so ready to have this little one. The great news is, if I haven't had her on my own I will be induced at 39 weeks which is just under 3 weeks away. So, at the very longest I have to endure the nonsense of my silly body is 3 weeks....and that is exciting! Ok, so on to part 2 of my interesting weekend. We had made reservations during in the week to eat dinner early Sunday evening at Buca di Bepo. Yum. I had been so excited all week, I love Buca. And as exhausted as I was I am trying to live as normally as possible for the last couple of weeks of my pregnancy so I was not going to skip a yummy dinner and time with my family. It was the whole family, me and my crew, my parents, brother and sisters, etc. So, we get to Buca and start enjoying our evening. My poor children have been through the ringer over the past few weeks, they after all have been on house arrest along with me. It's been rough. And bless my mom for helping us out and taking them to the park or just outside when she has taken care of them. They were used to me doing those things with them, and now it's been so boring around here for them when all I can do is just sit and watch them. So, we are sitting down and my sister got there a bit late with my nephew. My older son and her son had to of course sit next to each other so they could talk about things a 4 and 6 year old talk about. Mason, my youngest needed to be part of that action. Well, things didn't go exactly as Mason had planned so he got upset. Mind you, his whole routine had been thrown off from the weekend. Saturday he didn't get in a good nap, just a small one in the car then Saturday night when we were in the hospital he didn't fall asleep for my mom till midnight. So, he was tired and cranky, not to mention just getting over an ear infection and strep earlier in the week. He was just off, and who is to blame him...he's a 2 year old with so much of his little world changing. And probably it would have been easier for us to have something at someone's house, but we certainly didn't know our weekend would end up so crazy. Anyways, so now that we all know why he was in a mood (hehe with the most important factor being that he is 2!!!!) back to the story. So, Mason gets upset and didn't want to sit down, he wanted to play. Our food comes out and my husband tries to get him to sit down and eat some noodles. Nope, he wasn't having it. He was crying and just upset, not like he was throwing a fit...he was genuinely upset. So, my husband was going to take him outside but my mom beat him to it. I am feeling major emotional and upset at that moment and ask my husband to go take care of him so my mom can sit down on mother's day. So off he goes, just then my older sister storms out as well, and I had NOOO clue why. I burst into tears feeling overwhelmed and wishing things had gone differently. My mom comes back in and says why don't we just leave our time is already ruined, which left me freaking out thinking no it's gonna be ok, Mason will calm down. Then she says "what table is it that said something?" I was so confused at this point and asked what she was talking about. Well.......what I hadn't heard in the process of getting Mason out of the restaurant is someone at another table across the room yell "You need to get your crying kid out of here". So, as soon as I hear about this I am just crushed. Are you freaking kidding me??? My child was CRYING. Not as if he was having a hissy fit, he was crying. And we swooped him out of there within 2 minutes of it starting to get him happy. And you are yelling across the room for me to remove my "kid"???? I was so upset, it really just hurt my heart. Never have I had someone insult me in regards to my children, and there was no greater pain at that moment. I was just devastated. What kind of insensitive human being would say something like that? Have they no compassion or even understanding of children in general, much less a child that has been put through many rough changes lately he DIDN'T ask for??? So, I was just majorly upset at that point as was my whole family at the rudeness of these people. So, we ask for boxes and the check (without any of us even having the chance to eat) and get everything packed up to leave. I have always enjoyed Buca di Bepo and had amazing service there, and last night was no exception. They certainly were not at fault for the actions of another patron, but they were so compassionate to the way we had been treated by those other patrons they did not let us pay. They apologized for SOMEONE ELSE'S actions, and wished us a wonderful Mother's Day. I learned of this after we left, and will be writing them a letter with the utmost gratitude. They didn't need to do that, our encounter with their staff and restaurant was great...it was someone else's actions that hurt but they did what they could. So, as we were leaving I just couldn't bite my tongue. I walked over to the table and said, "Hi, I'm the mom of the child you suggested should go home" when the man interrupts me with just the rudest look, voice, everything and starts attacking me with his words. He said to me that he didn't say we needed to leave, but we needed to get our kid under control. I told him to stop and told him he is 2 and tired and having a bad day, and gave him more of an explanation about my poor child's circumstances than he deserved to know. Because you know what, even IF we didn't have all this going on, is it completely unheard of for a 2 year old to have a bad day? He was just so mean, and snooty. And hurtful. I cried the whole way home, then decided he would not ruin MY day with my family. Everyone came over here, I dried my face and we started fresh and had a good time. I learned that you just never know what people are going through. You just never know what someone's circumstances are, nor do they matter. I try to live everyday treating everyone as I would want to be treated, and yesterday was a good reminder why that is so important. A group of people hurt my heart, and made me sad. They broke my spirit and made things worse, but only for a minute. Gosh, I so wish I could have said so many other things to them. But why? Instead I will pray for them. Clearly they do not know the love and compassion I know from my Father who helps me to see the world differently and love a little more or maybe just like Mason, they were having a bad day. I don't know their circumstances either, and so I will just pray.

I got it!

So, today I got my custom made diaper bag from Sassy Satchels and have to say I am in LOOOOOVE. My bag is fantastic, way cuter than what I had envisioned in my head. I knew it would be cute for sure, but seeing it in person is so much cooler! I just took a couple really quick snaps with Mason hanging on my leg, so they aren't the best. I am going to take it in the studio to take a couple to show all the details. It's awesome, and was so much fun to go through the design process! Ok, I sound like an infomercial. Sorry, but I am such a bag kind of girl this is so up my alley. :) Have a fantastic weekend and a wonderful Mother's Day!!! I will be eating yummy food and enjoying my new freedom and waiting for a baby to come!

Sassy Satchels

Have you guys checked out Sassy Satchels yet??? I am so silly excited about my bag! I was taking portraits a few weekends ago and noticed my client had the cutest diaper bag. So, of course I had to know where she got it and guess what she makes them! I was so excited cause I hadn't gotten a bag because I don't like traditional diaper bags at all. So, I had been on the hunt for something that would really fit ME. So, we started designing one and it was such an awesome process! I got to pick my fabrics, with her help because I stink at that type of thing. Anyways, I just wanted to post for those who may be in the market for a cute diaper bag, purse, or burp cloths. Her bags are awesome and affordable! I get mine this week, so I will post pictures of it when it's here. Here is a sample of what the general idea is. After you look at how stinking adorable my bag is going to be get right over to http://www.sassysatchels.blogspot.com/ . You won't regret it!!!

Ohhh the drama!

I don't think I came properly equipped for child bearing. Each one of my pregnancies brings new events, new challenges, new drama. And as most of you know Brooklynne has been the Drama Queen since we found out she was there. Wednesday I went in to the Dr for my 34 week appointment, and everything was looking good. I have an ultrasound at 36 weeks and we will see how big she is and how I am doing to determine if we should induce sooner than 39 weeks if she doesn't come on her own before that. Thursday night we went and got some of the last minute stuff since we knew that at 35 weeks they would not stop her from coming. I was told to stay on my house arrest for one more week, so we would at least make it to 35 and a half. Well, my body thought perhaps we should just have a dry run to see how things would go down in the real event. Thursday night I felt a little different, Friday morning I called to let them know and they said just to watch it and let them know. Well, at 10:30 the contractions started. Nothing new for me. I start contracting like a mad woman at around 15 weeks each time, it's lame. So, nothing new...I went about my business but was feeling yuck. Decided I should lay down after about 45 minutes of consistent contractions. A couple hours later we decided I should be checked. So, off we went on the dry run. My mom took the boys, Joseph came all the way home from work and we headed downtown. In the 30 minute drive I had 6 contractions, so they were moving closer together. They checked me and I am still 1cm dilated, which is good news - the contractions were not dilating me. They monitored me and by that point I was contracting pretty good about every 2-3 minutes apart. We decided either I could go to the hospital and sit and see what happens or I could come home, take some pain pills to help relax my muscles and rest. I took option #2, and guess what happened?!?! Nothing. No baby (which is good cause I am still finishing up some work). Basically, my body is all talk at this point. Stupid body. Thank the good Lord this is it for me. And the lovely women who stayed at my Dr's office on a Friday afternoon to wait for me to come in for nothing - bless you. I seriously LOVE my Dr and all of his nurses, they rock. They put up with me, so they have to be extra special. :) I'll keep you all posted to the never ending saga of my final weeks of pregnancy and my lame body.

I made it!

I was so nervous about ending up on full blown bedrest before I finished up the last 2 weekends of sessions. But I made it! And the sessions from this weekend went so wonderful. Both were return clients, it is always such a treat for me to be able to see children as they grow. To watch them go from babies to toddlers just full of personality. They were so wonderful and fun. It was truly an incredible way to go on leave. I'm not 100% on leave yet as I have orders to complete now, but things are slowing down and I have time to get last minute things ready for Brooklynne's arrival.
I have had a huge amount of inquiries for sessions lately, and since I don't know an exact date of when I will return I have started a waiting list. There are many families on the list already. About 2-3 weeks before I come back I will contact those who are on the waiting list to start booking sessions, so I anticipate a busy return for some fun in the sun summer sessions. (Then we will quickly be into the holiday rush! ACK!) If you'd like to be on the waiting list, there is no deposit for it and I have not announced a special but your name would be added and you will be among the first to know dates, specials, and have first choice for booking. And as I mentioned, we will be making some fine tuning adjustments to the business - so stay tuned for some exciting announcements! Alright, I've gotta go prop up the swollen feet and lay my poor aching back on the heating pad. I'm so huge it's not even funny.

It's a race to the finish!

I have been telling you all for months now when my leave was going to start, and it always seemed SO far away. But it's actually here! It's kinda bittersweet for me. I am so excited to have this little girl, but I really enjoy my work. I do have plans to revamp some business things while I am gone, make things even better...but I will definitely miss my clients. I have been on "modified bedrest" or as my lovely doctor tells me I have been "laying low and calling in the calvary" for a week now. I like to call it house arrest. :) I at least don't have to just lay in bed, but I can't do much. I can hang out with the boys, go to church, take Reagan to preschool and of course do my last bit of work. But I can't go walking the mall, do any type of yard work or gardening, no heavy cleaning (yay for me), no lifting my kids (yeah right), basically I can't be on my feet much at all. I go back to the doctor next week and I will be 34 and a half weeks. The immediate goal was for me to make it 2 weeks, which is the day I go back to the dr. I suppose we will see from there what the next goal or game plan is. I just really need to make it to 36 weeks, then I am hoping they will say she's good to come any time after that. I will have a sono at 36 weeks to see how big Brooklynne is and to see how everything looks, and hopefully we will make a game plan from there. My body is tired and ready to quit now, so as long as we make it to the safe zone I will be happy to deliver. But at the very most I have about 5 weeks left. Last weekend and this weekend were my last 2 weekends of work. Last weekend went well, I had so much fun with both families and the pictures are lovely if I don't say so myself. But it's hard to go wrong with such fantastic and CUTE families! Anyways, I will be posting here more regularly now that things will be slowing down. Make sure to stay tuned for baby news. Myself or my husband will be posting here when she arrives, so if you aren't already subscribed for updates do it now! In the meantime, I'm sure to do a lot of rambling on here to pass time. :) Hope you are all doing well.

Being a MOM...
We are sitting at lunch one day when my daughter casually mentions that she and her husband are thinking of "starting a family."
"We're taking a survey," she says half-joking. "Do you think I should have a baby?"
"It will change your life," I say, carefully keeping my tone neutral.
"I know," she says, "no more sleeping in on weekends, no more spontaneous vacations."
But that is not what I meant at all. I look at my daughter, trying to decide what to tell her.
I want her to know what she will never learn in childbirth classes.
I want to tell her that the physical wounds of child bearing will heal but becoming a mother will leave her with an emotional wound so raw that she will forever be vulnerable.
I consider warning her that she will never again read a newspaper without asking, "What if that had been MY child?"
That every plane crash, every house fire will haunt her. That when she sees pictures of starving children, she will wonder if anything could be worse than watching your child die.
I look at her carefully manicured nails and stylish suit and think that no matter how sophisticated she is, becoming a mother will reduce her to the primitive level of a bear protecting her cub.
That an urgent call of "Mom!" will cause her to drop a souffle or her best crystal without a moments hesitation.
I feel that I should warn her that no matter how many years she has invested in her career, she will be professionally derailed by motherhood.
She might arrange for childcare, but one day she will be going into an important business meeting and she will think of her baby's sweet smell.
She will have to use every ounce of discipline to keep from running home, just to make sure her baby is all right.
I want my daughter to know that every day decisions will no longer be routine.
That a five year old boy's desire to go to the men's room rather than the women's at McDonald's will become a major dilemma.
That right there, in the midst of clattering trays and screaming children, issues of independence and gender identity will be weighed against the prospect that a child molester may be lurking in that restroom. However decisive she may be at the office, she will second-guess herself constantly as a mother.
Looking at my attractive daughter, I want to assure her that eventually she will shed the pounds of pregnancy, but she will never feel the same about herself.
That her life, now so important, will be of less value to her once she has a child.
That she would give herself up in a moment to save her offspring, but will also begin to hope for more years, not to accomplish her own dreams, but to watch her child accomplish theirs.
I want her to know that a cesarean scar or shiny stretch marks will become badges of honor.
My daughter's relationship with her husband will change, but not in the way she thinks.
I wish she could understand how much more you can love a man who is careful to powder the baby or who never hesitates to play with his child.
I think she should know that she will fall in love with him again for reasons she would now find very unromantic.
I wish my daughter could sense the bond she will feel with women throughout history who have tried to stop war, prejudice and drunk driving.
I want to describe to my daughter the exhilaration of seeing your child learn to ride a bike.
I want to capture for her the belly laugh of a baby who is touching the soft fur of a dog or cat for the first time. I want her to taste the joy that is so real it actually hurts.
My daughter's quizzical look makes me realize that tears have formed in my eyes.
"You'll never regret it," I finally say.
Then I reached across the table, squeezed my daughter's hand and offered a silent prayer for her, and for me, and for all the mere mortal women who stumble their way into this most wonderful of callings. There are good fathers, yes, but only a mother can truly understand the depth of which I speak...Please share this with a Mom that you know or all of your girlfriends, or daughters, who may someday be Moms.

99 Balloons

99 Balloons. For those of my clients that have been around for a while, you already know what I am referring to. For those that don't, let me introduce you to Eliot. Eliot changed my life, and moved my heart more in his 99 days that I would have ever imagined. Eliot came into my life by accident really. He has a family member that is a photographer, and she put out a prayer request for him. I contacted her having been moved asking for permission to pass the word on. She gave me the ok, and many of you took the journey of Eliot's short life with me. Every Wednesday an update was made, and every Wednesday I was there on the blog to see how he was doing. One week I hadn't checked in. I got a call from one of my clients who had been following Eliot's story. She asked if I had been to the site. I hadn't but knew right away what the news was just by the sound of her voice. I immediately logged on, with a huge pit in my stomach I read. I cried. I weeped for this 99 day old boy I had never met. I was devastated to be honest. I can only imagine the feelings of his parents and family. I felt as though I knew him and his wonderful parents so well. They had each impacted my life so much. If you haven't been to his blog please visit. And read the archives. It is life altering. But just make sure you bring your kleenex. But I'd like to encourage ALL of you, wether you have read the blog yet or not to please watch the 6 minute movie about Eliot's 99 day journey. Bring your kleenex, probably the whole box. It is still so amazing to me how a tiny baby, who couldn't breathe or eat on his own - can move so many people, change so many lives, and impact so many hearts. I have said it before, and will say it again...thank you Eliot. You and your parents continue to be such an inspiration. You can see 99 Balloons here:

HOW did I miss these??? These little gems have been sitting in my computer for almost a year, untouched...unloved...it's photo abuse. I cannot believe I missed these. Of course, I am boring you all once again with pictures of my kids, but I'm the mom and looooove them! Granted, they are not what you all are used to as far as studio work, but this is what I love. Candid moments, moments that remind me of how fun and silly and darling they are. The one of Mason walking away was last summer, he was just over one and just learned to walk. Let me tell you when I found that picture I almost started to cry. He will be 2 in 2 weeks, and well - he's not that much of a baby any more. And gosh my Reagan looks SO young in these. They grow up so fast.

Only 10 weeks max!

Can I just tell you how excited I am that I am in the home stretch of this pregnancy. I have felt lately like I still have forever to go, and very well may get to feeling that way again. BUT I am really, really close! Only 10 weeks max left for me. And when I look at my calendar and work schedule, it will fly by! I only have 2 slots left total before I go on leave. And only a total of 3 more working weekends. I am so excited to take leave, because I know it means it will be baby time. But I will so miss having interaction with my clients. However, with this being our 3rd baby, I may just be too busy to think about it. And seriously, can I just go ahead and mention....I am petrified of baby #3. We will officially be outnumbered. Scary. And let's not mention the fact that after having 2 boys, I am scared to death of having a girl. And my baby (Mason) is turning 2 in 3 weeks. Makes me kinda sad. He is growing up and so independent. He just melts my poor lil heart every time I see him, and I literally am clay in his hands. Which is surprising considering how ornry he really is. He has himself a new Dora potty (why can't they make potty's that have boy characters??? He loves Dora and I don't mind that it's Dora, but why don't they even make other characters? Is Dora really the only one with the great idea???) so we have been letting him sit on it whenever he feels like it. We know he's not ready, but he is learning what it's all about and thats step #1. So, my husband is getting the boys ready Saturday morning before my session and he took Mason to go sit on the potty. He didn't do anything of course, but A for effort right?!?! So, my hubby walks to his room to get him dressed and Mason wandered off towards the living room. Joseph went to go get him to get him dressed for the day. WELL, there he was in my entry way standing in front of a decorative Mexican terracotta pot, shirt lifted, peeing on the side of the pot with a HUGE smile on his face. He was trying to get it in the pot, just had bad aim. But he was so proud. Joseph came in to tell me what "my son" had just done, and Mason comes walking behind him shaking his head "yes" and clapping and smiling as his daddy tells me his great success. Moral of the story, don't say "let's go pee in the pot". Shortening it on accident isn't all it's cracked up to be, and you too could be on your hands and knees cleaning up peepee and cracking up uncontrollably. :) Have a great week everyone!!!

I totally forgot I was supposed to update...

I swear my pregnant brain is such mush right now. It's a wonder my kids still get fed everyday! I forgot completely that I was supposed to update on availability as it fills. And we have had a ton of slots fill up. So, here is new availability:
March:
10th - booked
17th - booked
24th - 1 slot left, email for time

April:
7th - 1 slot left, email for time
21st - 1 slot left, email for time
28th - 1 slot left, email for time

So, basically I am only looking at a total of 4 slots left before this baby comes!!! And seriously people, I am getting rounder by the minute. It needs to get here just a bit faster so I can meet this little angel!
BUT, my baby finally has a name. I told several of you when we first found out it was a girl that she had a name already, Addison. Well, when Joseph and I decided on the name we totally didn't even realize that the EXACT name we had picked out was actually my cousin's baby's name. So, we have spent the last 7 weeks obsessing (ok, maybe I was the only one actually obsessing, he was just trying to get me off his back about baby names) about what "Baby Girl" would be named. Our oldest son, Reagan had his own list too. It was quite interesting and almost tempting (ok not really). He had names like Dede, Cheech (don't ask), Fudge (this one was almost appropriate), Chachi, and Toe. All of which were SO wonderful and hard to part with. He is so creative. But I have to say they were much creative than my darling husband's choices. I swear that man changed his mind far more than a woman ever does! It was getting ridiculous. Anyways, so back to the point. Our baby has a name. I am excited about it, it is hers and feels "right". I can finally sleep at night, or find something else to obsess about. Oh wait, you wanted to KNOW the name??? Nosey. haha KIDDING! "Baby Girl" is now Brooklynne Grace Menchaca. Only 12 weeks left till I actually get to see her! :)

March and April Session Availability

Most of you got this email, but just as a reminder for my Spring/Summer season....
There's a baby coming soon and it's time to prepare! Bella Amadis Photography will be closed for business all of May-July, and is subject to change with any changes in my health and/or recovery. So, with that being said it is time to start thinking about sessions if you want them. As the nicer weather approaches, the calls and emails have already started to roll in to schedule sessions. I just worked out my schedule and went ahead and opened up March and April for scheduling since it is a very busy season and my growing belly is making it increasingly harder to work. Basically, I have 7 Saturday's open to sessions, all of which will only have 3 session slots open. Here are the available dates:
March:
3rd
10th
17th
24th

April:
7th
21st
28th
**Many slots have already been filled on the dates listed above, I will remove the dates as they fill**

I have also had many of you inquire about bluebonnet portraits, last year the bluebonnets were so scarce we didn't get to do them. But hopefully they will be out this year, if that's the case one of these dates may be dedicated to portraits in the bluebonnets. I will send out those details IF that happens. If you see some awesome spots in the North Austin area, please let me know! Also, please note that May-July, I will not be doing reorders or designs of any sort, so keep that in mind as well.

Sessions in March or April will get $20 off the session fee and 8 Complimentary Wallets with a minimum purchase of $75. That's a total value of $40 savings!

Also, if you would like to order from a session that took place before February 1st 2007, you will pay no reorder fee ($25) and get 8 complimentary wallets with $50 minimum reorder.

Last, and super exciting, as this is something that I NEVER do...Normally you can purchase the copyright release and cd of your session for $500 for up to 40 images from a single session. This gives you full personal printing rights of your portraits. If you would like to purchase the rights to your session that took place before February 1st, 2007 you can do so for $350.

All sales end April 30th.

These moments melt my heart

Seriously, don't let the images fool you. He is so stinkin cute, and looks so squeezable...but it's kinda like a wild animal - you can't get too close. lol Most of you have met my youngest son, Mason. When we found out Mason was to be a boy, I thought I knew exactly what to expect. Because after all I was already raising a boy, and was most definitely a self pronounced boy raising expert. Then he came. So sweet, soft, pure. He looked just like his daddy, and every bit of him melted my heart just like Reagan had. Yep, this would be a peice of cake. Right. No one ever mentioned to me that just because they are the same gender doesn't mean they will have the same demeanor. Reagan was an easy baby, super passive. Mason, is well....apparently just like me. Reagan looks like me, acts like his dad. Mason looks like his dad, acts like me. I am doomed. And last I checked there is only room for 1 hard headed, strong willed person in this house. (guess I better move) :) But even with his strong will, and determination to do the things he maybe shouldn't...he melts my stinkin' heart! Sometimes being a photographer I forget that I am still a mom who can take average shots of my kids. It's hard to put the photographer in me away with a camera in hand. So, today I was determined to take some shots for ME. Technically perfect? Nope. My best work? The pictures - no, the kids - yes!

10 minutes of snow....

I still can't believe that it snowed in Texas! My oldest son was just so excited about now. He asked right away if we could go out and make snowmen and snow angels. He was lucky to just get enough for a snow ball. Mason, the younger one on the other hand...had enough of the cold weather in about 10 minutes and was anxious to get back in to his warm house. But it was fun for those 10 minutes. And hey, it's Texas and a little bit of snow is excited for all of us!
On another note, I am looking for commercial space to be able to display my work. For example, doctor offices, boutiques, etc. for the purpose of placing a nice framed image in for advertisement. So, if you know of anyone with empty wall space who would like to have it decorated with fine art portraits, please let me know!
Have a GREAT weekend! I am off and we are having a garage sale down the road at my mom's to get rid of baby boy stuff!!!

February Special!

Because I am having just a beautiful week, I am in the giving mood. :) SO, I was thinking of what to do for February's special and here it is for my favorite people:

COMPLIMENTARY Session - there will only be 5 of these sessions offered, first come first serve. There is a $25 reservation fee to hold the spot, which will be applied to your portrait order. As with all specials, there is a $50 minimum order.

AND we're having a 10x20 Storyboard Sale! This is my absolute favorite print, so it will be on sale the month of February also. Take $10 off your custom storyboard (reg. $75)!

***Once those 5 sessions are filled, the special will be a complimentary 5x7 with order of $50 or more. ***

Just as a reminder, the January reorder special is expiring in 7 days. If you plan to reorder from a previous session, now is the time to do so. There is NO reorder fee with minimum reorder purchase for the next 7 days!

I know something you don't know!!!

Hi everyone! We had our 20 week ultrasound today and the baby is doing wonderfully. Every bit of the baby looked perfect and healthy. We are so excited and blessed! And of course, with 2 boys we needed to go ahead and find out what the gender is. Every time we have a baby Joseph ALWAYS calls it when they are looking for gender. With each boy he would yell out "It's a boy" before the sonographer even got the chance. He's quite good at getting the ultrasounds while I lay there still trying to figure out if it's a butt or a face. :) So, once again there I lay...the only one who hadn't figured out what is was when Joseph yells out..........................I bet you really want to know huh?!?! hehe Part of me thinks I should keep the secret for another day, the other part of me that knows how many of you know where I live is screaming just tell them. So, there I lay (the only one who doesn't know by this point) and Joseph says "There are no appendages". The sonographer says "Yep, no appendages, no kickstand", to which I say "can someone just tell me what this all means". But the point was clear.....WE ARE GETTING OUR GIRL!!! We just wanted to share our excitement with you all!!! Hope everyone is doing well!

I spent a good amount of time (when I say a good amount of time I really mean a ridiculous amount of time) today prettying up the good ole blog. Gosh I hope SOMEONE appreciates it! Just an FYI there is one spot that opened up for the Valentine's mini sessions, so if you want to grab it just shoot me an email! That's all for now, I used all my brain power on the improvements. :)

Valentine's Mini Sessions!!!

After such a huge success, and many requests for more mini sessions I am launching another one! I realized while walking through Target (my home away from home) that they were gearing up for Valentine's Day. And then it hit me, I promised to do a Valentine mini session weekend!!! So, here it is.....
January 20th bring your Sweethearts for their Valentine's mini session! As usual, there is no session fee for mini sessions. There is now a $50 minimum purchase with mini sessions. I will be sending out e-vites again to set appointments, and if the demand is high enough I may open an additional weekend of sessions.
Ladies, this is also a good time to leave the kids at home and come for a session of your own to surprise that special someone.
Please feel free to email me with any questions or to schedule your mini session.

As I close I wanted to leave you with an incredible quote someone sent to me recently. I know mostly women read my blog, and I know as women we need to be reminded of how special we are. So, this is that reminder that you are beautiful. Ok, enough cheese...just read.

LIGHT
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are we not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you.
We are born to make manifest the glory of Our Creator that is within us.
It is not just in some of us, it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fears,Our very presence automatically liberates others.

Merry Christmas!!!

Hi friends! I just wanted to pop in and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday, eat lots of yummy food, and squeaze your loved ones tight. I am so excited for Christmas this year. Mason is 20 months now, so this year he will really get it. Reagan is super excited for Santa and eye-balling every present under the tree that looks like it should be his (which in his mind is all of them). They have been good (well, as good as a 20 month old and 4 year old boy can get) this year and Mom and Dad have worked their tails off, so Santa is bringing some good stuff I hear. I am so excited to watch my babies little faces as they come out of their rooms on Christmas morning, ready to see what Santa has delivered. It's more exciting than I remember Christmas ever being as a child. I love to see my kids on Christmas morning. We open presents, eat some yummy breakfast, sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. It just doesn't get any better than this.
As I look back over this year, I realize how blessed I have been. I decided a little over a year ago that I wanted to start my own photography business. With my wonderful husband as my investor, I was on my way. But equipment and hours of studying don't make a business, and certainly not a successful one. So, here I am a year later with a business that is booming better than I had even hoped for. Clients that I am so blessed to have, and so many friendships formed. I couldn't have ever imagined that my little thought of a business would be so good to me. And I never imagined I would make so many wonderful friends along the way. I so enjoy stepping into your lives for a moment to capture memories, then being able to stick around as a friend to see how these wonderful children change and grow. Someone told me recently that I need to learn to seperate business and personal. I thought about it long and hard, and know now why it didn't sound right. They weren't saying it in the nicest way to begin with, but I will never seperate the two. My business IS personal to me. My clients ARE personal to me. My work IS personal to me. It's my passion...my heart. When it becomes just business, I will know it's time to move on. So, thank you all from the bottom of my heart for making this journey that much enjoyable. Thank you for letting me into your lives for a moment, then inviting me to stay. Thank you for your patience in my learning process, support, kindness, and mostly for being the best darn clients and people a girl could ever ask for. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas from our family to yours. Here's hoping Santa brings something good for you!

I finally posted the January Blog Special, it's updated in the last post.
Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year!

I am FINALLY updating the blog

I am a bad blog owner. Bad. But in my own defense life and business have been crazy busy. But I am so glad to say that I am out of the Christmas season for portraits. If you missed out on a Christmas session, sorry, but with the great specials to come you can surely make up for it. I had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my family. We went to Kentucky to see my family on my mom's side. It was great fun, but I ate WAY too much. I came back definitely looking pregnant! And of course with my dumb luck I had a dr. appt a week after Thanksgiving. So, I gained 4 POUNDS in between visits. ACK! I explained it all very well by telling the dr that I ate the whole turkey. :) My lovely neighbor even asked if I swallowed it whole. Thanks, way to make a girl feel good. hehe So, it was a good trip. I slept a LOT and wondered if the travel had really just taken that much out of me. I couldn't figure out why I was so stinkin tired. It was bad. I was going to bed every night at 8! I was beating the kids in the who can pass out fastest game. I know, such a show off. :P Well, it all makes sense now. My anemia is worse in this pregnancy than it has been before. It never stops amazing me how different every pregnancy has been for me. The bad part is that each one has had it's problems and complications, all of them being different. Why can't I just have a boring uneventful peaceful pregnancy?!?! And seriously, the women who LOVE pregnancy (no offense what so ever...I would love to love it, but the problems ruin it every time), but I am NOT one of those women. I don't particularly care for it. I mean of course I love feeling my sweet little baby move. I love knowing that my own is growing in there. But the toll it takes on me is not too cool. But this being my last one, I can say that I am appreciating it a lot more than ever. And even better, we had yet another ultrasound Thursday and the baby is doing beautifully. So, there you have it. The update on baby 3 I have been asked about a million times and keep swearing I will post about and haven't. That's about all I got for now except for my January special. Hope you all have a wonderful week and get that Christmas shopping done!!!

January Blog Special - Holiday Special Extended!
Half Off Session and Complimentary 8x10 with $75 minimum purchase.

January Reorder Special - From now till the end of January there will be no archival fee on reorders. That is a $25 savings! There is a $50 minimum for this special. If you have any questions, or to repost your session for ordering please email me when you are ready. Once you have requested your session to be reposted for reordering it will be online for 3 days for choices to be made.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi guys! Just a quick reminder that I am on vacation which started today (YAY) and will be returning on the Sunday the 26th. We will be out of state visiting family, and eating LOTS of good food. I'm not too sure how often I will be able to check my email (if at all). So, please bare with me and I will get back to you when I get back in town if not before. I will be back in action and working to get all deadlines met, packages shipped, and orders delivered on Monday the 27th. I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. Eat good, rest up, and beware of crazy people shopping on Friday (I hear they are ruthless)! I'll be back with vacation pics and *hopefully* a new family portrait! Talk to you all soon!

Eliot

I honestly believed I would never be seeing this day. As many of you know, I was personally touched by a little man. A baby that had spoken volumes to my heart. He reminded me of God's true and unmeasurable love. His parents reminded me to be strong in my faith. To have patience. To persevere. The three of them taught me to open my eyes and love what I see. They taught me that things may not always happen as WE expect them to, but that doesn't make the blessings smaller. They taught me to love more passionately. I appreciate my life more. I appreciate my husband and children more. I appreciate God more. I could go on all day about the many ways this family impacted my life. In 98 days, they made changes in me. And others. Their faith is something I admire. On October 27th Eliot went to be with the Lord. If you would like to read about Eliot's precious and inspiring journey, visit his blog.
My heart and prayers are with you, Matt and Ginny. Eliot, thank you. Thank You. You continue to teach and inspire me. My love is with the three of you. Always.

Beauty.....

A lot of photographers have really taken notice of this video, and I am one of them. I first saw it about a week ago. It really moved me, being a woman. A woman, who as most women always finds flaws in herself. Always feels as though there is something wrong, something to improve. From blemishes to the baby fat, from clothing choices to boobs. Yep, I said boobs. I think we love to hate ourselves. Well, maybe not. If only I could be have great skin...If only I had bigger boobs...If only this baby fat would go (yes I know I am expecting again, but you get the picture). I am a smaller framed girl, and have plenty of people who say what do you have to worry about? But the bottom line is that we will always find fault in who we are. In what we look like. We could all look different, dress better, and have perfect boobs. But would we be happy? And what determines beauty? At the end of the day, we are all beautiful. Our perseption of beauty is heavily influenced by society. And sadly, what we see is not reality. What we now consider "beautiful" is actually fake. Society has shown us what they want us to see, making our standards of beauty the unobtainable. Here is a video, that is part of the Dove Campaign . It really puts into perspective how far lost we are as to what is beautiful. I am thankful for my flaws, they remind me I am real and just a girl who is far from perfect. They give me something to work for. A better me, maybe the physical won't change...but the heart can only improve with self love and appreciation.

Prayers and Praises

It's Friday! That is good news since it's been such a long 2 weeks. First bit of great news...we went yesterday for our 3rd ultrasound to see if baby was going to make it. And as the dr. finds the baby I see something familiar and something I know. It was a sign. A sign of life, and prayers answered. Ultrasounds are so confusing to me, half the time I have no clue what I am looking at. But yesterday, I knew as soon as I saw it that all was well. God is good and prayers for my tiny unborn child were answered. There in the screen of the ultrasound machine was a very stong, and very visible HEARTBEAT. I couldn't have asked for a better sign or better way of knowing my "dot" was ok. It was relief. And immediately a smile was on every face in that room. My dr. said to me your baby is doing wonderful, I could tell he too was relieved. As we were leaving he told me that I was ironically one of three women who had pregnancies that they were unsure of. He said he didn't know if those three babies would make it to the next visit. Want more great news? I was the last of the three to get the wonderful outcome that our unborn babies are well! Perhaps this was nothing more than just the way my body always works but we have just never seen it, but for us it was God's work. It was a little miracle. I am again SO thankful for all of you who have emailed, called, and followed my blog. I cannot even begin to tell you how many people pulled together for us. From amazing emails, calls, hugs, even meals offered. I am blessed. And forever thankful. And RSVPing for those meals when the baby arrives. lol, ok only kidding. :)

I had the wonderful priviledge of going to one of my friends/client's house last weekend to photograph her family in their environment. She has brought her 2 girls to my studio for pics before but for family I went to them. Young children just like their own environment. But this family is special to me. Their oldest child, Chase has autism. So, going to his environment was the best option for their family. We had SOOOO much fun. It was pretty hilarious watching a family giggle and laugh and fall all over the place. And lucky me to be on the other side of it with a camera. We got some great and fun pictures, and best of all her kids didn't even realize we were actually having a session. But yesterday I got an email with a request for some prayers for her dear friend. Here is the email:

I don't know if you have a prayer chain or can put in for prayer request with someone, but a friend of mine in CA just had her littlest guy diagnosed with autism. "N" is 19 months old. She has 3 boys. Her oldest "A" was diagnosed with autism 5 years ago. He is 7 now. This has been a huge blow for her and her family. Every prayer helps. I'm sure that about now she is really questioning everything. She is extremely upset because they thought they did everything right with a completely organic diet and lifestyle and N was not immunized at all! Anyway, they are getting ready to face some huge issues and will also have to face fighting the california school districts for services. Not a fun thing to do.
Anyway, any prayers offered up will be a huge help and a comfort for their family.

To learn more about autism, please visit http://www.autism-society.org/ . Please keep this family in your prayers. I cannot begin to imagine what they feel, but know we have a God that can get us through anything. If the family reads this, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your angels. It reminds me of a post on Eliot's blog. Many have heard the story but it talks about how you are going on vacation to Italy and you end up in Holland. How you were so set on Italy and the food and culture, everything. You get to Holland mad, sad, and disappointed. But you step out of the plane and realize how beautiful Holland is. You realize you love Holland. And are thankful for it. I have faith that Holland is not where you intended to go, life takes us to many places like Holland. But once we get there we see God's beauty in it. I hope you find your Holland to be amazing. To read Eliot's Holland story, go to http://mattandginny.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_mattandginny_archive.html and scroll down to the post titled Holland.

And Holland has done well for the Hoyt's. I cry everytime I watch this video. I know that while this dad carries his son over finish lines, so does our Father carry us over ours. For anyone who did not see the post on the Hoyt's, another inspiration in my life, here is their video:

Costume Cuties!!! Part 2

I got fussed at since I had not posted round 2 of costume cuties. SO, I better get on it. My last 2 days of events sent my life into a tailspin. Here are the last of my adorable Costume Cuties!!!

And to update everyone, we went for another sonogram yesterday and saw a baby!!! 2 days before there was just a sac and yesterday there was a tiny baby forming. My progesterone levels are low, which is a bit alarming but the blessing in all this is that we caught it early and can supplement if needed. I will find out today if my levels from yesterday were still too low. And I go in next Thursday for our next sono to make sure things are progressing properly. We are still not out of danger, but things are looking good for now. Thank you all for the wonderful emails of support! I appreciate the continued kindness from my wonderful friends.

Ok....it wont let me post pics...darn it. I will be back later and try to repost.

What IS that thing???

I went to post about this yesterday, and my emotions were far too raw to post so I deleted it. I have had a night to sit on news of what "that thing" is and decided to post. I went for my annual "girl doctor" appointment on Monday (oh joy). I was late, but pregnancy tests were coming back negative. So, they did my annual and decided to do a sonogram to see if there was a problem. Well, they found several. To start they found what "could" be a pregnancy but next to it was an additional sac that was filled with fluid. They also found a good amount of fluid behind my uterus, and what appears to be several cysts on my uterus. It was all a little mysterious. My dr. ordered a blood test to make sure there was not a pregnancy so that we could start action to relieve whatever it is that is going on in there. Well, guess what?!?! That thing that "could" be a pregnancy IS!!! Yep, a Baby Menchaca...#3 to be exact. WOW, 3 is so many. lol So, now this is where we are....my hormone levels look great, right on track. But they feel as though they should have seen more of baby than they did. Now that they know what they are looking at, they are doing another sono today and more blood tests to determine if the baby is "viable". We are still unsure why there is extra fluid behind my uterus and why there is an extra sac of fluid. Hopefully we are only seeing a pregnancy in the early stages, and there is nothing wrong with the development of our little surprise. We are happy, and very, very scared. We have lost a baby once before and know how that feels. So, we are praying for a healthy baby. And while we are praying we may as well ask nicely for a girl. hehe So, that's my news. It's a baby. A surprise baby, but a baby we love already.

Costume Cuties!!! Part 1

Hi everyone!!! It's been a few since I posted, so I thought I better get to it. I have been crazy busy, but it's been a fun busy. Costume Cuties was a HUGE success on Saturday. We had a great time. Awesome costumes, goodie bags for the kids. Everything was wonderful (well, except for the fact that my neighbors teenage son rearended one of my client's parked cars. gotta love that)! So, I thought I would pop in and share a few of the images from the event.

Thank you and other ramblings

Hi everyone!!! First I wanted to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of you for the kind and generous outpouring of love to me and my family. I cannot even begin to tell you how much it was appreciated. There were so many emails that I got that just really touched my heart and helped me get through this. I am so blessed with the most amazing clients, who I am proud to call my friends! So THANK YOU!!!

Life is getting back to normal. The Monday after my uncle passed, my husband went to California for a "conference". His company calls it a conference, I call it a vacation. hehe He was at Disneyland and apparently miserable without us (sure lol). They get sent off to this conference every year, which is always such a nice time and have great things planned for them. But we seem to like each other so much he never has a good time. Let's face it, I'd rather be anywhere with him than co-workers in my career days. He was gone for 3 days, so it was me and the boys. AND...we survived!!! I even did some guy stuff around the house. I replaced a board in our fence, did some yard work, and treated fire ants! YAY ME!!! lol Ok, so it wasn't anything extreme. But considering that fence board had been waiting to be replaced by him for a week...I got to say hahaha to my hubby. It may backfire...he may realize that I am actually pretty handy at those things and want me to do them on a regular basis. :)
It is almost time to start the Christmas sessions!!! I can't believe it's almost October. I have regular sessions this weekend, Costume Cuties next weekend, and then starts the madness. I do still have a couple sessions left but they are still of course SUPER limited. Don't forget to scroll down to check out the holiday blogger special, then email me to schedule yours! Hope everyone has a wonderful week!!!

"Graduation Day"

Graduation Day - that's what my mom said this was. And she is right. My uncle has graduated, gone home. No more cancer. No more pain. No more weakness. He can eat. He can walk. He can dance if he wanted. He is HOME. It's so bittersweet. I cry and am mourning a life lost. I am sad that his wife will not have her soulmate by her side. Sad that his daughter can't call her dad. But he is still with us. Still living in our hearts. One's physical body can pass, but his soul and love will live on in all of our hearts. They didn't expect him to make it through the night. He proved them wrong. He passed on his time. Around 8 this morning he went home. Thank you to everyone for the love and kind support.

Jerry

I am sitting here with tears streaming down my face and a broken heart. I am grieving for someone that is still physically alive, but slipping way too fast. My uncle Jerry has been battling a VERY nasty cancer for a very short time and sadly the cancer is winning. I was supposed to travel this weekend to photograph an event for him. There was going to be a band, an open house, prayer, and a celebration of his life and how far he has come. And tonight I hear that he is back in the hospital and not doing well at all. I HATE cancer. There are not many things I hate, but I HATE cancer. It makes me sick to my stomach and I cringe at the word. It's disgusting. Why does it even exist? I don't understand why so many men, women, and children die everyday from such a wicked disease. I don't get why we can send a man to the moon, but we can't cure cancer. I don't get why babies have to suffer. I don't get why my uncle is suffering. It hurts my heart. He has a young beautiful daughter that still needs him. And a wife that is devastated that her mate is slowly slipping. There are many things in this world I do not and never will GET. But I know that God has a master plan for everything, even this. I ask all of you to pray and think of my uncle. Please. He has bounced back from many situations that were not in his favor in this awful battle. I pray this to be one of them.

Life lessons from Eliot

In an effort to keep on top of my photography skills, I am part of several online forums that inspire me to be a better artist. And as a community of photographers, and a very large community...when there is a need we can post that need and know that we have friends there to back us up. This week, a photographer that I do not know personally, posted this link about her nephew who has Trisomy 18. So, as a member of the American Children Photographer Charity Guild (www.acpcg.com) I went to have a look and read Eliot's story. What I didn't know was that I was about to read a story that would touch and inspire me in a way that I have never experienced. Eliot's story has taught me more in the hour that I spent reading aboout him, and the hours spent praying and thinking of him after reading...than I have learned I think in my entire life. Eliot's diagnosis is fatal, which is heartbreaking. But the love and faith that I have read pouring from the hearts of two parents that are so in love with their sweet little boy reminds me to embrace life. Reminds me to love every minute with my own children. Makes me appreciate their health. I know that putting myself out there may turn some people away from my business, but my faith is more important to me than my business. What I am asking from all of you, is that you sit down and read Eliot's story. If you feel compelled, send him a message, I hear he loves them. And if you believe in the power of prayer, please pray for him and his family. If you don't believe in prayer, please just think of him. Read his story and the celebration of each day of his life. Because each day that Eliot lives is a miracle and defeating the odds of what doctors have called a "life that is not viable". http://mattandginny.blogspot.com/
