I survived the oral surgeon

I made it through my procedure this morning, and am a little less wise without those wisdom teeth. hehe I just wanted to stop in to thank everyone who has sent me such warm wishes. It is truly appreciated! I am in a good amount of discomfort, but thank goodness for pain meds!!!
But I wanted to share a couple shots very quickly before I hit the sack again. These are just a couple of the shots that I got in my quest to capture my children in their everyday activities. This is a new venture I will soon be adding to my services...stay tuned for more details and more samples!

These were from one of my sessions this weekend. These girls were such a joy, so happy and just full of life. They had the best clothes and were just the cutest things!!! We talked about boys and school (ok, so the baby didn't talk about boys, but she did give me the finger!)...it was tons of fun!!!
I will be off this weekend and a few days during the week next week to recover from my wisdom teeth extraction. So, I wanted to post the September blogger special. This is for September sessions only and to get this promotion, you have to schedule your appointment by August 31st!

September Blogger Special -
Receive a Complimentary 10x20 Storyboard ($75 value) with 3 of your favorite images from the session with paid session fee!!!! I made a sample Storyboard collage for you all to see:

Sometimes we need to be reminded just how blessed we are. God has given me two healthy, beautiful children, a best friend and husband. My problems are nothing in comparison, and at the end of the day I am thankful for what I have and where I am. I am inspired by the strength of this man and in awe of the unconditional love his father shows. Just thought I would share this...

The Story:

I try to be a good father. Give my kids mulligans. Work nights to pay for their text messaging. Take them to swimsuit shoots. But compared with Dick Hoyt, I suck.

Eighty-five times he's pushed his disabled son, Rick, 26.2 miles in marathons. Eight times he's not only pushed him 26.2 miles in a wheelchair but also towed him 2.4 miles in a dinghy while swimming and pedaled him 112 miles in a seat on the handlebars--all in the same day.
Dick's also pulled him cross-country skiing, taken him on his back mountain climbing and once hauled him across the U.S. on a bike. Makes taking your son bowling look a little lame, right? And what has Rick done for his father? Not much--except save his life.
This love story began in Winchester, Mass., 43 years ago, when Rick was strangled by the umbilical cord during birth, leaving him brain-damaged and unable to control his limbs.
"He'll be a vegetable the rest of his life;'' Dick says doctors told him and his wife, Judy, when Rick was nine months old. "Put him in an institution.''
But the Hoyts weren't buying it. They noticed the way Rick's eyes followed them around the room. When Rick was 11 they took him to he engineering department at Tufts University and asked if there was anything to help the boy communicate. ``No way,'' Dick says he was told.
"There's nothing going on in his brain.''
"Tell him a joke,'' Dick countered. They did. Rick laughed. Turns out a lot was going on in his brain. Rigged up with a computer that allowed him to control the cursor by touching a switch with the side of his head, Rick was finally able to communicate. First words? "Go Bruins!'' And after a high school classmate was paralyzed in an accident and the school organized a charity run for him, Rick pecked out, "Dad, I want to do that.''
Yeah, right. How was Dick, a self-described ``porker'' who never ran more than a mile at a time, going to push his son five miles? Still, he tried. "Then it was me who was handicapped,'' Dick says. "I was sore for two weeks.''
That day changed Rick's life. "Dad,'' he typed, "when we were running, it felt like I wasn't disabled anymore!''
And that sentence changed Dick's life. He became obsessed with living Rick that feeling as often as he could. He got into such rd-belly shape that he and Rick were ready to try the 1979 Boston Marathon.
"No way,'' Dick was told by a race official. The Hoyts weren't quite a single runner, and they weren't quite a wheelchair competitor. For a few years Dick and Rick just joined the massive ld and ran anyway, then they found a way to get into the race icially: In 1983 they ran another marathon so fast they made the qualifying time for Boston the following year.
Then somebody said, "Hey, Dick, why not a triathlon?''
How's a guy who never learned to swim and hadn't ridden a bike since he was six going to haul his 110-pound kid through a triathlon? Still, Dick tried.
Now they've done 212 triathlons, including four grueling 15-hour Ironmans in Hawaii. It must be a buzzkill to be a 25-year-old stud getting passed by an old guy towing a grown man in a dinghy, don't you think?
Hey, Dick, why not see how you'd do on your own? "No way,'' he says.
Dick does it purely for ``the awesome feeling'' he gets seeing Rick with a cantaloupe smile as they run, swim and ride together. This year, at ages 65 and 43, Dick and Rick finished their 24th Boston Marathon, in 5,083rd place out of more than 20,000 starters. Their best time'? Two hours, 40 minutes in 1992--only 35 minutes off the world record, which, in case you don't keep track of these things, happens to be held by a guy who was not pushing another man in a wheelchair at the time.
"No question about it,'' Rick types. "My dad is the Father of the Century.''
And Dick got something else out of all this too. Two years ago he had a mild heart attack during a race. Doctors found that one of his arteries was 95% clogged. "If you hadn't been in such great shape,'' one doctor told him, ``you probably would've died 15 years ago.'' So, in a way, Dick and Rick saved each other's life.
Rick, who has his own apartment (he gets home care) and works in Boston, and Dick, retired from the military and living in Holland, Mass., always find ways to be together. They give speeches around the country and compete in some backbreaking race every weekend, including this Father's Day.
That night, Rick will buy his dad dinner, but the thing he really wants to give him is a gift he can never buy.
"The thing I'd most like,'' Rick types, "is that my dad sit in the chair and I push him once.''

Waiting.....

Have I mentioned that I am an impatient woman??? Don't know too many women that aren't impatient. LOL I saw the oral surgeon last Friday, and unfortunately have to wait till the 25th to have my wisdom teeth removed. blah!!! But that's ok, at least they will come out and I found a great oral surgeon! I obviously will not be having any sessions that weekend, but will be back in action in September.

Other exciting news, I will be doing "Costume Cuties" mini sessions October 7th. These will take place in the studio and each session will last about 30 minutes long. You will be able to bring your kiddos in their costumes for a great Halloween session. And the best part...the session fee is COMPLIMENTARY!!! I am scheduling these now, please email or call me to schedule for your Costume Cutie!!!

I am going to start scheduling holiday sessions to take place in October and November. You can call anytime to schedule them, but remember they will fill very quickly and slots are limited. As most of you know, I only shoot on weekends, but may be able to open up an occasional week day appointment if needed. The following will be the dates that holiday sessions will be available:

October 14, 21, 28

November 4 (no longer available), 11

December 2

Please remember there are only 3-4 sessions available each date available, so this means there will only be a max of 24 slots available for holiday sessions.

*** Holiday Blogger Special!!!!***
I am going to go ahead and announce the holiday blogger special since I will start scheduling these next month. Please be sure to mention the blogger special when scheduling! The Holiday Blogger Special is......

Big ole chicken.......

That's what I am!!! A grown woman scared of the dentist, can't believe I just admitted that on a public blog. But this week I am forced to love the dentist. I have been in quite a bit of discomfort for about a week in my mouth. It has given me headaches, very sore jaw, and a LOT of pain!!! So, I found out that I have 4 wisdom teeth coming in, and they are not being nice about it!!! I have a consultation on Friday and will hopefully have my surgery to remove them next week. I'm feeling a little ripped off, no one EVER said I needed to have them removed....I wasn't even positive if I had them. So, next week pray for me. If anyone needs to get ahold of me next week, email would be the best way. If I do not answer emails immediately after the surgery, I will either get back to everyone once I am feeling a little better or will have my husband answer emails. I will be back to update the blog after the surgery. Have a great week!!!

My Boys...

Mason age 1

Reagan age 3

My boys are my life, my heart, my soul, my love, my reason for being on this journey. I see them growing right before my eyes. They change so much and so often, and these little moments that make me smile today will soon just be distant memories. A friend of mine did a day in the life of her children, so it inspired me to follow my kids for a day documenting their every move. I want to be able to not only think back on their fun daily activities, but to also look at my memories. I want to stop those moments and make them portrait memories. Cherish your babies!!! I will be sure to share the outcome of my day here on the blog!

WOW!!!!!! What a big hit the blogger special turned out to be! I am so excited to have several clients back for more portraits!!! And of course I will be sure to share some of those sessions. I will be updating blogger specials at the end of every month, so make sure to keep checking back in. I will send out a monthly email to let everyone know when the blogger special is posted. I have had quite a few clients wanting to reserve Holiday sessions. I will begin reserving Holiday sessions in September. It is a very busy season and turn around times will be increased, there is a 4-6 week turnaround from the time you order. So, if you plan to schedule Christmas pictures, please plan to reserve your spot next month. They will fill up very quickly!!!
